A Little
History....
The office of Florida
RanchLand Realty is
located in a very well preserved, historical Queen Anne style
building which was originally constructed in 1902.
The lovely home is well known for its historical
significance and displays that "Old Florida"
era grandeur, ambiance, and charm, with many of the original
fixtures still in place. The building was the original
homestead of a very well known pioneer family of the community, and
is recognized by locals as the "Edge
House".
A gentleman by the
name of EE Edge, one of the main founders of the City of
Groveland, as well as one of Groveland's original City Councilmen,
was the owner and builder of the home when it was constructed back
in 1902. Edge's son, Lacy "Day" Edge, was elected to be the
City's first Mayor in 1922. Day Edge went on to
become one of the most prominent men in Lake County and had the distinction of being
the youngest man ever to be elected to the Florida
State
Legislature. In addition to serving as a State
Senator, Day Edge also served as Speaker of the
House.
